Perched upon the edge of a cliff

30 Apr

So here I am again

Perched upon the edge of a cliff

Have I ever really been anywhere else?

The air is thin up here and

Sometimes I get the urge to step right off

It isn’t the Fall that kills you

It is that fatal attraction called Gravity

Which smashes every bone in my body

Many people build their mansions up here

The view is magnificent

Life is fragile anywhere you are

The ground beneath can give way

The sky above can grow teeth and claws

Tearing apart your happy home

A moment’s daydream upon crossing a street

Can lead to a death so quick

We all live our lives up here

Perched upon the edge of a cliff

Resisting that imp of the perverse

Which urges us to jump
