Fat Chance

31 May

With lonely bones and crazy eyes

That stuff never really goes away

They just dream of winning the lottery

Fat Chance

but So What, Big Deal

Didn’t really care about it anyway

Their minds are like a late night talk show

filled with stupid human tricks

They thought they might figure something out

Fat Chance

but that’s all right, no Big Deal

They’ll take a little nap on the couch

and watch dumbly as time creeps up

They thought it would all work out

They’d earn a little bit and be all set

Fat Chance

They sort of hoped I’d find a better end

A hopeful sign, a little peck on the cheek

All I offer is the wind, and the distant sound

of old talk shows

filled with echoes
