given how we struggle day in and day out

manage to save up a little only to lose it to

that vast sea of stupidity

which is life in America 2017

stupid lies and demented resentments

robbing us of anything resembling love

in fact love is but a sick joke told to a human wreck

is it really any wonder that we are bitter?

is it really any wonder that we seem so crazy?

trying to find paradise in any kind of silly nonsense

we can find, just so long as we stop being reminded

of all the mistakes we have ever made

is it really any wonder that we no longer have noses?

they were lost to the grindstone

or else to a tax lien

or taken roughly by a hooligan

on our way to another day of another day of another day

of work
